Summary
Verrotech announce the latest of their enterprise level hosting systems to be deployed specifically for the Norfolk and Suffolk Rocketry Association. The deployed database system will form the foundation of a replacement NASRIS system currently under development by Verrotech and NASRA. Article NASRIS is the Norfolk and Suffolk Rocketry Information System, a database driven system with a variety of applications and portals. Primarily NASRIS is the central information management system for NASRA (Norfolk and Suffolk Rocketry Association) and handles information from launch reports to rocketry simulation management. As part of a continuing series of upgrades the NASRIS development team are working toward a flight-data warehouse system capable of storing and analysing 'raw' data from NASRA's AltAcc data recorders.
As prime contractor for ICT systems, Verrotech have deployed a cluster-based database server environment suitable for this application. Building on our close links with the NASRA development team enabled us to deliver a system entirely suited for their exacting requirements.
The system, located at NASRA JPSFC utilises RedHat Linux and MySQL software packages combined with advanced clustering and parallel data techniques. All services are deployed on Intel-based platforms over a dedicated switched Ethernet network.
Having completed their pre-deployment checks the Verroteam team turned the system over to NASRA on 9th December 2003. Confirmation from NASRA and a sign-off from the NASRIS development team of suitability and acceptance of the system happened two days later. Eyes now turn to the NASRIS team to see the results of their portal implementation which should be available by April 2004.
